Volunteer

Without our volunteers there would be no Rosies

Each night our team of more than 1,650 volunteers head out to outreach locations across the state. According to Volunteering Queensland, their time equates to $2.4 million each year.

Volunteer

Four hours, once a month

Volunteers must be 18+ and commit to a minimum of 4 hours once a month. You join a team that goes to the same location each month.

  1. Meet your team at the branch base, prepare the van and review recent street reports.
  2. Your Team Leader leads a short reflection and the Rosies prayer.
  3. Spend two hours on the street sharing friendship with a drink and a bite to eat.
  4. Travel back together, unpack, clean up and debrief.

Youth Detention Centre teams

YDC volunteers undergo special training. Teams attend the YDC in Wacol once a month (Saturday or Sunday afternoons) and spend about 1.5 hours with young people under the supervision of YDC staff, with a pre-brief and debrief led by the Team Leader.

Schoolies Week

Rosies has supported school leavers at Surfers Paradise since 1987 – the longest serving community organisation at Schoolies Week. Volunteer at Schoolies →

Acknowledgment of Country. In the spirit of reconciliation, Rosies – Friends on the Street acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and thanks them for sharing their culture, spirituality and ways of living in this place we all call home. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
